Aspergillus Antibody Panel, CF and ID, Serum
Use
This assay is used for serologic assessment of exposure to Aspergillus species by detecting Aspergillus-specific antibodies. It includes two methods: complement fixation (CF) to measure total Aspergillus antibody titer, and immunodiffusion (ID), which differentiates antibodies against specific Aspergillus species (flavus, fumigatus, niger). The combined panel aids in diagnosing Aspergillus-related infections or related allergic conditions.

Limitations
Test limitations include potential false-negative results early in infection or seronegative cases, possible cross-reactivity, and variability in antibody responses between individuals. Interpretation should consider clinical context; negative ID but elevated CF may indicate exposure without active disease. Intra- and inter-laboratory variations may affect titers. Convalescent titers may be needed for interpretation.
