B-Cell Clonality Screening (IgH and IgK) by PCR

Use
This test aids in the diagnosis and monitoring of B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders. It serves as an ancillary test which may be used in conjunction with additional morphologic and clinical evaluation to differentiate between malignant and reactive proliferations. The test utilizes primers from the BIOMED-2 primer set targeting IgH (VHFR1-JH, VHFR2-JH, VHFR3-JH) and IgK (VK-JK, VK-Kde, JKCK intron-Kde) genes to assess B-cell clonality.
Special Instructions
If multiple specimens (blocks or slides) are sent, they must be accompanied by either an order comment indicating the best specimen for testing or individual orders for each sample. A Pathologist Block Selection Fee will be applied if the ARUP pathologist is asked to choose the most appropriate specimen.
Limitations
The test's limit of detection is approximately 25 percent clonal B-cells in background total B-cells. Results must be interpreted in the context of morphology and other relevant clinical data and should not be used alone for a diagnosis of malignancy.
