Use
Aid in the diagnosis of acute EBV (infectious mononucleosis) and EBV reactivation in conjunction with other serologic tests. The appearance of IgG antibodies to Early antigen-diffuse [EA(D)] is generally associated with the primary (acute) stage of EBV infection. For most individuals these antibodies are transient and are often undetectable after 6 months.
Special Instructions
The test is set up and reported Monday through Friday. It is essential to interpret the results in conjunction with other serologic tests and clinical data for accurate diagnosis.
Limitations
This test is intended for qualitative determination only and should not be used as the sole diagnostic tool. The result should be considered alongside other clinical data and patient symptoms. The test does not quantify the EBV-EA antibody beyond the cutoff value; hence, numerical values above the threshold do not correlate with antibody levels.
