Fluconazole, Quantitative by LC-MS/MS

Use
Fluconazole is a synthetic triazole antifungal drug indicated to treat candidiasis and cryptococcal meningitis infections. The therapeutic range is based on serum, predose (trough) draw collection at steady-state concentration. The pharmacokinetics of fluconazole are influenced by drug-drug interactions when coadministered with drugs metabolized by cytochrome P450 2C9, 2C19 and 3A4 enzymes. Adverse effects may include headache, skin rash, abdominal pain and hepatitis.
Special Instructions
Timing of specimen collection: Pre-dose (trough) draw at steady-state concentration. Use plain red, lavender (EDTA), or green (Sodium or Lithium Heparin) tubes.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. It was developed and its performance characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories. Interaction with cytochrome P450 enzymes may affect the pharmacokinetics of fluconazole.
