Special Instructions
For accurate results, it is important to collect the specimen in the appropriate tube types as recommended. Transfer separated serum or plasma to a plastic transport tube and avoid using gel-barrier tubes, as they may absorb the drug and lead to inaccurate levels. Stability is maintained for 14 days across various temperatures, thus allowing some flexibility in storage conditions while ensuring reliable test results.
Limitations
The method applied for this test, while not FDA-approved, has been developed and the performance characteristics determined by LabCorp, as the FDA has ruled such clearance for this test unnecessary. Despite the absence of direct FDA validation, LabCorp ensures analytical fidelity through their internal validation processes. Test results need careful interpretation as there isn't a direct correlation established between drug concentrations and clinical efficacy or toxicity. External factors such as renal dysfunction or the presence of renal replacement therapy can influence drug exposure and should be considered when interpreting results.
