Use
Monitor exposure to arsenic, lead, mercury, and cadmium
Special Instructions
This test requires a 24-hour urine collection, and the request form must state the 24-hour specimen volume, if applicable. Avoid contact with metal during the collection, and securely screw the lid on the container. It is important for patients to avoid seafood and red wine 72 hours prior to collection to prevent interference with test results. Limitations
The test was developed by Labcorp and has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Therefore, it is intended for clinical laboratory use as determined appropriate by healthcare providers. Factors such as the diet, particularly seafood consumption, can affect arsenic levels due to the presence of non-toxic organic arsenic compounds, potentially complicating the interpretation of total arsenic measurements.

Collection Instructions
Instruct the patient to void at 8 AM and discard the specimen. Then collect all urine including the final specimen voided at the end of the 24-hour collection period (ie, 8 AM the next morning). Avoid contact with metal during collection. Screw the lid on securely. See individual tests for collection times for industrial monitoring.
