Neuronal Cell Antibodies, Quantitative, Serum

Use
The test measures the level of anti-neuronal cell antibodies in serum, which may be used in the diagnosis of neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Elevated levels of these antibodies in serum or cerebrospinal fluid are associated with neuropsychiatric symptoms in SLE patients.
Special Instructions
The test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories; therefore, separate specimens must be submitted if multiple tests are ordered. Note that this test is not New York state approved. A Non-Permitted Laboratory Request Form must be submitted to the NYDOH before the collection of specimens.
Limitations
The test was developed and its performance characteristics were determined by the University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. This test is intended for clinical purposes and should not be considered investigational or for research.
