Oncology FISH Analysis - Aggressive/High-Grade B-Cell Lymphoma Panel
Use
The Oncology FISH Analysis is specifically designed to identify pathogenic translocations associated with Aggressive/High-Grade B-Cell Lymphoma. This test is indicated for patients who are suspected of having aggressive lymphoma, who need prognostic identification of anomalies, and in cases where previous cytogenetic testing was unsuccessful. It is critical to interpret the results within the context of the patient’s clinical and pathological data to avoid false diagnoses.
Special Instructions
For specimens that are FFPE, it is imperative to ensure they are fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin for a period ranging from 6 to 48 hours. The specimen volume should be at least ten times the volume of the formalin. Exposure to decalcification solutions with strong acids should be avoided as they may negatively impact results. Specimens that do not meet these criteria may lead to false negatives, which can compromise patient care and treatment planning.
Limitations
This FISH assay focuses solely on identifying breaks in the genes under study, and while it can indicate the presence of translocations, it does not identify the partner gene involved, which may limit clinical interpretation. Clinicians should be aware that the assay does not substitute for comprehensive genetic analysis.
