Organism Identification by 16S rDNA Sequencing

Use
This test uses 16S rDNA sequencing for the identification of most bacterial species. It is a reference method that provides accurate and reliable results for various clinical scenarios, including potential identification of pathogenic bacteria in clinical specimens. This method is especially useful in cases where conventional culture methods are insufficient or too slow.
Special Instructions
An additional processing fee will be billed for mixed cultures submitted, as indicated in the specimen requirements. Specimen source required. Indicate suspected pathogen. Transport the specimen in a sealed container with pure culture on agar slant or in bacterial transport media. Identification and susceptibility tests are billed separately from culture.
Limitations
The test may not provide definitive identification for some organisms if the available database does not include them. Mixed cultures or nonviable organisms are unacceptable specimen conditions. It has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, but it is performed in a CLIA-certified laboratory intended for clinical purposes.
