Use
Immunohistochemical detection of ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) in tissue or cell‑block specimens, useful for identifying ACTH expression in tumors—typically pituitary adenomas or ectopic hormone–producing lesions—to assist in pathologic classification.
Special Instructions
Submit electronic request; if electronic ordering not available, use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with client number. Use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure for offerings. This test is performed as a stain‑and‑return (technical) service only.
Limitations
Performed only as a technical immunohistochemistry stain without pathologist interpretation. Only tissue or cell block specimens accepted; non‑representative or depleted specimens are unacceptable. Slides must not be oven baked. Frozen specimens unacceptable.

Collection Instructions
Formalin fix (10 percent neutral buffered formalin) & paraffin embed; cells must be prepared into cellblock; protect block/slides from excessive heat; if sending precut slides, do not oven bake.
Storage Instructions
Room temperature or refrigerated; ship in cooled container during summer months.

Non‑representative tissue type; depleted specimens; frozen specimens
