Allergen, Epidermals and Animal Proteins, Goose Feathers
Also known as: GOOSE FEAT
Use
This test measures the level of IgE antibodies specific to goose feather allergens. The presence of specific IgE antibodies indicates sensitization to the allergen, which may contribute to allergic symptoms. Results should be correlated with clinical history and other findings. A negative result does not eliminate the possibility of allergic disease.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure accurate results. Ensure specimen is separated from cells and handled according to provided instructions.
Limitations
Concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results. IgE levels should be considered as part of an overall assessment of possible allergic reactions, with clinical history being essential in interpretation.
