Allergen, Food, Almond IgG
Also known as: ALMOND IGG
Use
The Allergen, Food, Almond IgG test is used to measure the level of IgG antibodies specific to almond allergens in a patient's serum. This test aids in evaluating the immune response related to almond exposure, which can be useful for dietary modification and allergy management in patients suspected of having sensitivities or allergies to almonds. It provides quantitative results that help in determining the presence of allergen-specific IgG antibodies, indicative of exposure rather than current allergic reactions.
Special Instructions
Ensure specimen collection is performed using a plain red or serum separator tube (SST). Serum must be separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer the serum to an ARUP standard transport tube for optimal stability and transport conditions.
Limitations
This test is not approved for use in New York State. Values obtained are not indicative of clinical allergy reactions but rather exposure to the allergen. IgG responses are common and do not necessarily correlate with allergic symptoms. Test results should be interpreted in conjunction with other clinical findings and patient history. The performance characteristics of this test were determined by ARUP Laboratories and it has not been cleared or approved by the FDA.
