Allergen, Food, Broccoli IgG
Also known as: BROCC IGG
Use
The Allergen, Food, Broccoli IgG test is used to quantitatively measure the levels of IgG antibodies specific to broccoli allergens in the blood. This test can help in the assessment of potential allergic responses related to broccoli intake in sensitized individuals, although it is not a definitive diagnostic tool for food allergies. IgG testing for food allergens is commonly used for managing dietary intake rather than diagnosing allergies due to its variable correlation with clinical symptoms.
Special Instructions
Ensure adequate volume and proper specimen collection by following the guidelines provided in the 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions.' Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens are unacceptable. Use a plain red or serum separator tube (SST) for collection, and separate serum from cells as soon as possible.
Limitations
This test is not approved by New York state and cannot be submitted to ARUP for New York patients. The test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA and is performed solely for clinical purposes within a CLIA-certified laboratory. IgG levels do not directly correlate with clinical symptoms for food allergens, and interpretation should be done in conjunction with clinical findings and other diagnostic procedures.
