Allergen, Food, Lentil
Also known as: LENTIL
Use
This test is used to measure the level of allergen-specific IgE antibodies to lentils in a patient's blood. These measurements help in identifying potential allergic reactions to lentils. The clinical relevance of allergen-specific IgE concentrations is critical in conjunction with the patient's clinical history and in vivo reactivity to the allergen. The results help determine potential sensitization and provide supportive data for diagnosing food allergies, although they may not directly correlate with the severity of allergic reactions.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided. Ensure compliance with 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' for multiplex allergen orders.
Limitations
Concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results. A negative test does not rule out clinical allergy or possible anaphylaxis. The test results should always be interpreted in conjunction with the patient's clinical history and other clinical findings.
