Allergen, Food, Lettuce IgG
Also known as: LETT IGG
Use
The Allergen, Food, Lettuce IgG test is designed to quantify levels of IgG antibodies specific to lettuce allergens in the blood. IgG antibody responses may indicate exposure to dietary antigens, but their clinical significance remains controversial and is often not directly associated with allergic reactions. The test is intended to assist in evaluating IgG-mediated responses to food antigens, potentially aiding dietary management for individuals experiencing adverse food reactions or sensitivities.
Special Instructions
This test is not New York state approved. Ensure serum separation is conducted promptly after collection to prevent sample degradation. Refer to the specified specimen collection instructions for comprehensive guidance on sample handling.
Limitations
This test does not distinguish between IgG antibodies that are protective and those that may be associated with intolerance or sensitization. Overall clinical interpretation should consider clinical evaluation and other diagnostic tests. Results are not to be used as a standalone diagnostic tool for food allergies, as the presence of IgG antibodies alone does not confirm or refute a diagnosis of food allergy.
