Lettuce (f215) IgE
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
Measures immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies specific to lettuce proteins, aiding in the identification of an IgE-mediated allergic response to lettuce. A positive result suggests sensitization, which may correlate with clinical symptoms such as itching, hives, swelling, digestive discomfort, or, in rare cases, anaphylaxis, and supports management via dietary avoidance under guidance of a healthcare provider.
Special Instructions
No specific preparation required. Based on Quest Diagnostics standard serum IgE assay workflow.
Limitations
Positive detection of IgE indicates sensitization but does not alone confirm clinical allergy nor predict severity. Results must be interpreted alongside clinical history and may not correlate with other test types such as skin-prick testing.
