Allergen, Food, Parsley
Also known as: PARSLEY
Use
This test is used to measure specific IgE antibodies to parsley. The presence of IgE antibodies is associated with clinical allergy symptoms upon exposure to the allergen. The test can help diagnose parsley allergy in individuals who exhibit related allergic reactions. However, IgE levels alone may not correlate directly with the severity of clinical symptoms, and results should be interpreted along with clinical history.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided during specimen collection. It is important to separate the serum from cells as soon as possible, preferably within two hours of collection, to ensure accurate results.
Limitations
The presence of allergen-specific IgE levels may not directly correlate with the clinical severity of allergic reactions. A negative IgE test does not rule out the possibility of clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. Clinical relevance of IgE results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L is undetermined and should be interpreted by specialists alongside clinical history and in vivo reactivity. The test may not detect all relevant allergens in parsley, and IgE concentrations could vary due to different factors, including storage conditions and time since sample collection.
