Allergen, Food, Pine (Pinon) Nut
Also known as: PINON NUT
Use
This test is used to measure the concentration of allergen-specific IgE to Pine (Pinon) Nut. It helps assess the likelihood of IgE-mediated allergic reactions to Pine Nut. The concentration of IgE may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results when challenged with a specific allergen. A negative test may not rule out clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure accurate allergen testing. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible, or within 2 hours of collection, and transferred to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Follow allergen collection instructions for multiple orders.
Limitations
The correlation of allergy laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens is essential. Concentrations in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L have undetermined clinical relevance and should be interpreted with specialist guidance. A negative test result does not fully rule out clinical allergy or anaphylaxis.
