Allergen, Food, Red Snapper IgE
Also known as: RED SNAP
Use
This test is used to measure the level of IgE antibodies specific to red snapper allergens in a patient's blood. It evaluates the likelihood of an IgE-mediated allergic response to red snapper. The test can aid in diagnosing allergic conditions and guide allergen avoidance strategies.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to prevent variability in results. The test is run daily from Sunday to Saturday and requires serum to be separated from cells as soon as possible, ideally within 2 hours of collection.
Limitations
Results indicating low IgE levels (0.10-0.34 kU/L) have undetermined clinical significance and should be interpreted by a specialist. Additionally, while the test measures allergen-specific IgE concentrations, these may not correlate directly with clinical symptoms or responses to allergen exposure or skin testing. A negative result does not eliminate the possibility of an allergy.
