Allergen, Fungi and Molds, Corn Smut IgE
Also known as: CORN SMUT
Use
The Allergen, Fungi and Molds, Corn Smut IgE test is used to detect the presence of IgE antibodies specific to the corn smut allergen. This test is particularly useful for individuals suspected of having an allergic reaction to corn smut, a type of fungus associated with maize. Identifying the specific allergen can aid healthcare providers in diagnosing allergic conditions and tailoring patient-specific management strategies, such as avoidance of the allergen and planning appropriate desensitization therapies.
Special Instructions
Please review the Specimen Collection and Handling Instructions to ensure adequate volume for allergen testing. This test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories, and separate specimens must be submitted if multiple tests are ordered.
