Allergen, Fungi and Molds, Fusarium moniliforme
Also known as: FUSARIUMMO
Use
This test is used for the quantitative measurement of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies specific to Fusarium moniliforme in serum. It aids in the investigation of potential allergic reactions to this mold, commonly found in soil and decaying organic matter. The presence of allergen-specific IgE can indicate sensitization, which may correlate to clinical symptoms of allergy such as rhinitis, asthma, or skin reactions, although results must be interpreted alongside clinical history and other diagnostic findings.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure accurate results. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer is to Arup Standard Transport Tube. Multiple allergen orders should refer to the Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions for guidance.
Limitations
Allergen results of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist interpretation as clinical relevance is undetermined. Even though increasing IgE concentrations indicate rising levels of specific allergens, they may not correlate with the severity of allergic reactions or skin test results. A negative result does not fully rule out the presence of a clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. Results need to be considered in the full clinical context, including patient history and observed reactivity to specific allergens.
