Allergen, Fungi and Molds, Trichoderma viride IgE
Also known as: TRICHO VIR
Use
This test measures the concentration of IgE specific to Trichoderma viride, a type of fungus or mold, in the patient's serum. It is used to identify potential allergenic responses in individuals suspected of having allergies to molds and fungi, potentially contributing to clinical assessment of allergy and guiding therapy.
Special Instructions
For accurate results, ensure proper specimen collection and handling. Transfer serum to the transport tube promptly to prevent degradation. This is crucial for any allergen testing, particularly when ordering multiple allergens.
Limitations
Results of the Trichoderma viride IgE test might not directly correlate with the clinical severity of allergic symptoms or skin test results. Allergen-specific IgE levels should be interpreted with care, taking into account the patient's clinical history and other in vivo testing results. A negative test does not conclusively rule out the possibility of a clinical allergy or anaphylactic response.
