Allergen, Grass, Cultivated Oat Pollen
Also known as: CUL OAT
Use
This test is used to detect allergen-specific IgE levels against cultivated oat pollen, which can help in assessing the likelihood of allergic reactions in susceptible individuals. The results are intended for assessing patients with suspected allergy to this specific pollen and aid clinicians in differentiating between allergies based on specific IgE levels.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided when preparing the patient for the test. Serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within two hours of collection to ensure optimal results.
Limitations
This test measures the concentration of allergen-specific IgE antibodies, and although higher concentrations generally indicate a stronger sensitization, there is not always a direct correlation with the severity of clinical allergy or skin test results. A negative result does not rule out the possibility of clinical allergy or anaphylaxis. Results should be correlated with clinical history and other diagnostic tests for accurate assessment.
