Allergen, Mites, D. farinae
Also known as: DFARI
Use
The Allergen, Mites, D. farinae test is designed to quantitatively measure specific IgE antibodies to Dermatophagoides farinae, a common house dust mite allergen. This test is intended to aid in the assessment of allergic diseases such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis in patients with compatible clinical history and symptoms. It helps to identify allergens responsible for eliciting allergic reactions, enabling targeted management and avoidance strategies.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided when collecting specimens. Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection and transfer to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. For multiple allergen orders, refer to 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' on the ARUP website.
Limitations
Concentrations of allergen-specific IgE as measured by this test may not directly correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results when challenged with the allergen. A negative result does not rule out allergic disease or anaphylaxis, and results should be interpreted in the context of the clinical history and in vivo reactivity to Dermatophagoides farinae.
