Allergen, Region 15 Respiratory Panel IgE, Intermountain West (NV, S. ID)
Also known as: REG15PANEL
Use
This allergen panel is designed for patients in the intermountain west region (Nevada, southern Idaho) to detect specific IgE antibodies associated with various regional allergens such as trees, weeds, grasses, molds, and animal dander. The test results help identify potential allergens causing allergic reactions, assisting in allergy diagnosis and management strategies. It is crucial for correlating laboratory findings with patient history and clinical presentations to ensure accurate allergy diagnosis and potential treatments.
Special Instructions
Avoid multiple patient encounters and multiple specimen tubes during collection to prevent potential sample mix-up or contamination. Use a serum separator tube (SST) and separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection to ensure sample integrity. Ensure that a minimum of 1.3 mL of serum is provided, with 4 mL being the optimal volume for testing. Handle the specimen correctly for transport and storage to maintain test accuracy.
Limitations
The assay measures allergen-specific IgE concentrations, which may not always correlate with clinical symptoms or skin test results for specific allergens. Concentrations between 0.10-0.34 kU/L have an undetermined clinical relevance, requiring specialist interpretation. Even with low IgE levels, clinical allergy or anaphylaxis might not be ruled out, and high levels may not necessarily indicate a severe allergic reaction. Always assess laboratory results in conjunction with comprehensive clinical assessment and patient medical history for accurate diagnosis and management.
