Allergen, Stemphylium herbarum/botryosum, IgG
Also known as: STEMPHBIGG
Use
The Allergen, Stemphylium herbarum/botryosum, IgG test measures the levels of IgG antibodies specific to the Stemphylium herbarum/botryosum allergens. IgG antibodies to this allergen can be indicative of past exposure or sensitization. This test is used to assess the presence of allergen-specific IgG antibodies, which are generally not associated with immediate hypersensitivity reactions but might have diagnostic relevance in certain chronic or delayed-onset allergenic conditions.
Special Instructions
Ensure that the serum is separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer serum to an ARUP standard transport tube for submission. The test is not approved for specimens from New York clients and needs to be sent to a New York state-approved laboratory for processing.
Limitations
This test was developed and performance characteristics were determined by ARUP Laboratories. It is a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) and has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. More research might be needed to understand the clinical significance of IgG levels to different fungal allergens, as IgG antibodies generally do not correlate with immediate hypersensitivity reactions unlike IgE.
