Allergen, Tree, Privet Tree
Also known as: PRIVET
Use
The Allergen, Tree, Privet Tree test is designed to measure the concentration of allergen-specific IgE in the serum to identify potential allergic reactions to privet tree pollen. It helps in the diagnosis of IgE-mediated allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and asthma by quantifying the immune response to specific allergens. The test is particularly useful for specialists as it provides quantitative IgE levels which can aid in determining the clinical relevance of specific IgE concentrations.
Special Instructions
Avoid multiple patient encounters to ensure patient preparation integrity. Use a serum separator tube for specimen collection. Transfer serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube promptly. For those ordering multiple allergens, refer to the 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' available at the ARUP website.
Limitations
This test does not differentiate between allergens that may be closely related, nor does it predict the degree of clinical response or correlate with challenges or skin testing directly. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical history and other diagnostic tests of in vivo allergenic response. Allergen concentrations in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist interpretation as the clinical relevance is undetermined. A negative result does not rule out sensitization to the allergen tested.
