C-MYC by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CMYCIHC
Use
The C-MYC by Immunohistochemistry test is utilized to qualitatively detect the expression of the c-Myc protein in tissue or cell samples. c-Myc is a regulator gene and proto-oncogene that plays a vital role in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation, and its overexpression is associated with various human cancers. The test aids in the diagnostic evaluation and characterization of neoplastic conditions where c-Myc protein might be implicated.
Special Instructions
This test is performed as a stain and return (technical) service only. Submit electronic request or use the ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with an ARUP client number if electronic ordering is unavailable.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, but it has been developed and its performance characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories under a CLIA certified laboratory setting. The test is intended for clinical purposes, and results should be interpreted in the context of a total immune profile, clinical history, and relevant morphological and cytogenetic data.
