Extended Myositis Panel
Also known as: MYOS EXT
Use
This antibody panel is useful in evaluating patients with progressive proximal muscle weakness or other clinical features suggestive of polymyositis, dermatomyositis, necrotizing autoimmune myopathy, or overlap syndromes associated with connective tissue disease. The detection of specific autoantibodies may aid in diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic decision-making in inflammatory myopathies.
Special Instructions
Change effective as of 01/21/25: refer to test code 3018867 in the January Hotline.
Limitations
Negative results do not rule out inflammatory myopathy or overlap syndrome. Results should be interpreted within the full clinical context, as antibody findings are not diagnostic in isolation.
