Flunitrazepam and Metabolites, Urine Screen with Reflex to Confirmation/Quantitation
Also known as: FLUNI URN
Use
This test is designed to detect exposure to flunitrazepam (commonly known as Rohypnol or 'roofies') and its metabolites in urine. It is particularly used in emergency toxicology scenarios to screen for the presence of these substances. If the preliminary screening results are positive, further confirmation and quantitation using more specific techniques will be conducted to ascertain the level of exposure.
Special Instructions
Specimens for this test need to be collected separately if multiple tests are ordered, as the test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories. Additional charges apply if the initial screen is positive and reflex testing is conducted for confirmation and quantitation.
Limitations
This test is a screen, and positive results will reflex to confirmation using more specific methods. Though the test is developed and validated by NMS Labs, it is not cleared or approved by the FDA. It also requires appropriate specimen handling, and results may vary based on the accuracy of the collection and storage of samples. Unacceptable conditions include improper storage or temperatures beyond the specified stability limits, which could affect test accuracy.
