Glutamine Synthetase by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: GLUTSN IHC
Use
Immunohistochemical staining for glutamine synthetase is used for technical (stain-only) purposes to assess protein expression in tissue or cells. It is performed as a stain-and-return assay without pathologist interpretation, where the stained slide is returned to the submitter for interpretation. ARUP provides this technical service Monday through Friday, enabling earlier evaluation of glutamine synthetase expression in research or clinical contexts.
Special Instructions
Submit via electronic request. If electronic ordering is not available, use ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form #32978 with an ARUP client number. Refer to ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure at www.aruplab.com/ap/resources. This test is performed as a stain-and-return (technical) service only; no pathologist interpretation is provided.
Limitations
Specimens must be representative tissue or cellblock material; depleted or non-representative specimens are unacceptable and may be rejected. Slides must not be oven baked if precut. Frozen specimens are unacceptable. Specimen integrity may be compromised by excessive heat or improper fixation. Interpretation must be performed by the submitting institution; ARUP does not provide interpretive data.
