HIV PhenoSense GT
Also known as: HIVPHENOGT
Use
The HIV PhenoSense GT test is designed for patients with viral loads of at least 500 copies/mL. It combines phenotype and genotype testing to assess antiretroviral susceptibility for protease and reverse transcriptase inhibitors. This test is particularly useful for patients with complex drug resistance patterns, as indicated by suboptimal virologic response or viral load rebound, and is preferred to guide treatment in such scenarios.
Special Instructions
The test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories, and separate specimens must be submitted if multiple tests are ordered.
Limitations
This test should be used only for patients with documented HIV-1 infection. The reference interval and interpretive data are detailed in the report provided with the test results.
