Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis 1
Also known as: HYPER 1
Use
This test is used to evaluate patients suspected of having hypersensitivity pneumonitis induced by exposure to specific antigens such as Aspergillus fumigatus, Aureobasidium pullulans, Micropolyspora faeni, or pigeon serum. The detection of antibodies against these antigens helps in the diagnosis and management of the disease.
Special Instructions
The test includes antibodies directed at Aspergillus fumigatus #1, Aspergillus fumigatus #6, Aureobasidium pullulans, pigeon serum, and Micropolyspora faeni. Ensure the specimen is separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection for accurate results.
Limitations
The test may not detect all cases of hypersensitivity pneumonitis due to variations in immune response among patients. False negatives can occur, and the presence of antibodies is not solely indicative of active disease. Clinical correlation is necessary for accurate diagnosis.
