Little c Antigen Typing - Patient
Also known as: C LITTLEAG
Use
The Little c Antigen Typing test determines if the c (RH4) antigen is expressed on the patient's red blood cells. This test is crucial for understanding the Rh blood group system and may be used in conjunction with other antigen typing tests to determine zygosity (homozygous or heterozygous) for the c antigen. This information can be vital in transfusion medicine and management of Rh incompatibilities.
Special Instructions
If it is necessary to determine whether the patient is heterozygous or homozygous for the c antigen, it is recommended to order the C Antigen Typing - Patient (2007933) alongside this test.
Limitations
This test only examines the presence or absence of the c (RH4) antigen. It does not determine zygosity unless used in conjunction with the C antigen typing. Hemagglutination results may be affected by factors such as antibody titers and other red cell antigens. False positives or negatives may occur due to technical variances or interfering substances.
