Stachybotrys chartarum/atra Panel
Also known as: STACHPAN
Use
The Stachybotrys chartarum/atra Panel is used for the quantitative measurement of allergen-specific IgE and IgG antibodies to Stachybotrys chartarum, a mold known to cause respiratory issues and allergic reactions. The test helps in the diagnosis of mold exposure and mold-related allergies, providing valuable information for the management and treatment of patients experiencing symptoms related to mold exposure.
Special Instructions
This test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories, and separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. It is important to collect specimens in the correct type of tube (plain red or serum separator tube) and ensure proper storage and transport conditions to maintain the integrity of the sample.
Limitations
Test performance can be affected if the serum is hemolyzed, lipemic, or icteric. Elevated IgG levels indicate immunological sensitization to the antigen, but the clinical significance of elevated IgG depends on the nature of the antigen and the patient's clinical history. It is recommended to interpret results in the context of other clinical findings and patient history.
