Thrombotic Risk Reflex Panel
Also known as: THROMRISK
Use
The Thrombotic Risk Reflex Panel is utilized to evaluate for inherited and acquired thrombophilias. It involves a series of tests designed to identify genetic and functional abnormalities that may increase the risk of thrombosis. This comprehensive panel is particularly useful for assessing thrombotic risk in patients who have had a thrombotic event or have a family history suggestive of hypercoagulability. It assists physicians in determining appropriate management and preventive strategies for affected individuals.
Special Instructions
Fasting is preferred for this test. An informed consent form for genetic testing is required for patients in New York. Refer to ARUP Consult for further test selection and interpretation guidance. Multiple specimen types are required, and each must be handled according to specific guidelines outlined by ARUP Laboratories.
Limitations
The test is sensitive to certain anticoagulant medications which may lead to falsely elevated results or misinterpreted results for some tests such as those influenced by heparin, direct thrombin, or direct Xa inhibitors. Interference from medications should be considered, and repeating the test when medication effects subside may be necessary. Diagnostic errors due to rare sequence variations may occur, especially in the genetic components of the panel.
