Triglycerides, Fluid
Also known as: TRG FL
Use
This test measures the concentration of triglycerides in body fluids such as pericardial, peritoneal/ascites, or pleural fluid. Elevated triglyceride levels in body fluids can help assess conditions such as pancreatic leakage, chylous effusion, or other metabolic disorders. The test provides quantitative results, aiding in the clinical evaluation of patients with suspected abnormalities in body fluid triglyceride concentrations.
Special Instructions
Specimen source must be provided for accurate analysis and interpretation. Ensure proper specimen collection and preparation as outlined to prevent rejection due to unacceptable specimen conditions. The test is performed every day of the week, providing timely results within 24 hours of sample receipt.
Limitations
This test cannot be used for diagnosing lipid disorders in serum or plasma; it is limited to specific body fluids. Specimens that are too viscous to be aspirated by the instrument or that do not conform to the accepted specimen types (pericardial, peritoneal/ascites, pleural) may be rejected. Accurate interpretation requires knowledge of baseline fluid triglyceride levels, and results should be correlated with clinical findings.
