Invitae Hereditary Breast Cancer STAT Panel
Use
The Invitae Hereditary Breast Cancer STAT Panel includes genes associated with a significantly increased risk of developing breast cancer. It is designed for rapid genetic testing to help inform surgical and management decisions for patients and their relatives. Identifying pathogenic variants can guide treatment options and testing for at-risk family members.
Special Instructions
This test offers an expedited turnaround time ideal for making quick surgical and management decisions. It analyzes germline mutations and is not suitable for detecting somatic mutations in tumor tissue. Customization of the test is available by selecting genes to include.
Limitations
The test focuses on clinically important regions of genes, including coding exons and adjacent intronic sequences. Not all structural rearrangements or variants outside covered regions are detected. Accuracy and sensitivity are high, but certain rare genomic conditions, such as mosaicism and phasing, might not be accurately analyzed.
