Limitations

Sequencing cannot detect variants in regions not covered by this analysis, including noncoding or deep intronic variants. The method may not reliably detect mosaic variants, inversions, or genomic rearrangements. Sequence analysis can be affected by allele drop-out due to rare variants, and does not allow conclusions regarding whether two heterozyous variants are present on the same or different chromosome copies. Copy number analyses may not detect genomic rearrangements such as translocations, inversions, or some partial exon rearrangements. The presence of pseudogenes can interfere with variant detection, and this test does not detect somatic variants. The presence of an inherited cancer syndrome due to a different genetic cause cannot be ruled out.
