ANA by IFA, Reflex to 9-biomarker profile, dsDNA, RNP, Sm, SS-A, SS-B, Scl-70, Chromatin, Jo-1, Centromere B by Multiplex Immunoassay
Also known as: ANA IFA Reflex
Use
Assay for screening for ANAs in patients suspected of having connective tissue disease.
Special Instructions
If reflex testing is performed, additional charges/CPT code(s) may apply according to specific biomarker profiles.
Limitations
Males and females older than 80 years of age have a 50% incidence of low titer ANA. The test may report positive due to certain medications that induce a 'lupoid' condition; however, the titer usually decreases following the withdrawal of the drug. Additionally, low antibody levels may also be present in conditions other than connective tissue diseases. A negative test is strong evidence against SLE, but it is not conclusive.
