Antiscleroderma − 70 Antibodies
Also known as: Anti-Scl 70
Use
Differential diagnosis of scleroderma (progressive systemic sclerosis)
Special Instructions
The semiquantitative measurement of IgG class antibodies is included in the test. A red-top tube or gel-barrier tube is required for specimen collection. Considerations for room temperature stability are noted, and caution is warranted against hemolysis, icterus, lipemia, and gross bacterial contamination as potential causes for specimen rejection.
Limitations
The test has specific requirements for specimen integrity, with hemolysis, icterus, lipemia, and gross bacterial contamination leading to rejection. The minimum volume does not allow for repeat testing, which is a limitation in terms of sample adequacy for retesting. There's a stability requirement for specimens to be handled at room temperature, refrigerated, or frozen for up to 14 days, ensuring a need for careful transport and storage.
