Candida Antibodies, IgA, IgG, IgM, ELISA
Use
Detection of IgG, IgA, and IgM antibodies to Candida albicans
Special Instructions
This assay is currently not available in New York state. It is important to note that the results are for research purposes only according to the manufacturer's labeling, and are not for diagnostic procedures without confirmation by other medically established diagnostic methods.
Limitations
The performance characteristics of this assay have not been established, and results should not be used as a diagnostic procedure without confirmation. A positive test does not necessarily indicate infection since antibodies can be detected in uninfected individuals due to exposure to commensal yeasts. The test cannot differentiate antibodies formed during mucosal colonization from those produced in deep infections. Antibodies may be found in hospitalized patients without obvious Candida infection. Negative results do not rule out the possibility of deep-seated candidiasis in immunocompromised patients.
