Carob Bean
Use
The Carob Bean allergy test measures the level of specific IgE antibodies to Carob Bean in the patient's serum. This test is used to aid in the diagnosis and management of allergic reactions related to Carob Bean, which may cause symptoms such as hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, or anaphylaxis in sensitive individuals.
Special Instructions
This test requires a serum sample collected in a red-top tube or gel-barrier tube. Specimen should be maintained at room temperature, refrigerated, or frozen according to stability requirements. Ensure specimen stability with no more than three freeze/thaw cycles. Ensure proper labeling and handling to prevent delays in test processing.
Limitations
The Carob Bean allergy test is specific for IgE antibodies to Carob Bean and does not measure total IgE levels or predict sensitization to other allergens. False negatives may occur if the patient is not currently exposed to the allergen or has low levels of IgE. False positives can occur due to cross-reactivity with similar proteins. Clinical correlation with patient history and other tests is required for a definitive diagnosis.
