Ephedrine/Pseudoephedrine Differentiation, Serum or Plasma
Also known as: White Cross
Use
Detect, quantitate, and differentiate between the stereoisomers ephedrine and pseudoephedrine.
Special Instructions
Serum or plasma samples must be protected from light by wrapping in foil. The specimen should be separated from cells within two hours of venipuncture and submitted in a plastic transport tube. Gel-barrier tubes are not recommended.
Limitations
This test may be limited by the requirement for proper specimen handling, including the need to protect the specimen from light and the requirement to separate serum or plasma from cells within two hours. Gel-barrier tubes are not recommended, and failure to adhere to specimen handling guidelines may affect test accuracy. Additionally, the test does not include confirmation of results through additional reflex testing unless explicitly requested.
