Lead Standard Profile, Blood
Also known as: Lead and Protoporphyrin (ZPP)
Use
Monitor exposure to lead
Special Instructions
Mix the blood tube thoroughly to avoid clotting. Hemolysis does not affect the test; however, recollection is necessary if clots are present. Ensure the sample is collected in the proper container and stored appropriately until testing. This test includes both lead and zinc protoporphyrin (ZPP) analyses.
Limitations
This test may not be cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration, and only has its performance characteristics determined by Labcorp. Results may require additional confirmatory or reflex testing in some cases. The stability of the specimen can be affected if not properly stored; specimens need to remain at room temperature or refrigerated as specified in the storage instructions.
