Detect the presence of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), an illicit hallucinogen
Special Instructions
It is essential to use an amber plastic urine container with an amber top to protect the specimen from light. If amber containers are unavailable, a standard urine container may be used, but it should be completely covered with aluminum foil, both top and bottom. The specimen should be clearly labeled with the patient's name on the container and on the outside of the aluminum foil, secured with tape. For proper collection, LabCorp N° 23598 (amber plastic transport tube and amber top) may be ordered.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Additionally, any delays in the submission or exposure of the urine specimen to light may affect the accuracy of the test results. Urine specimens collected in preservative tubes will be rejected to avoid contamination and false readings. The methodology employed, though sophisticated, may not detect LSD consumption if the concentration of the substance is below the detection limit.

Collection Instructions
Use an amber plastic urine container with an amber top. If amber containers are unavailable, cover a standard urine container completely, top and bottom, with aluminum foil. Identify specimen with patient's name directly on the container and on the outside of the aluminum foil. Secure with tape. For amber plastic transport tube and amber top, order LabCorp N° 23598.
Storage Instructions
Submission/transport (<3 days): Room temperature. For storage beyond three days, specimen should be refrigerated or frozen.
