Posaconazole, Serum or Plasma
Also known as: Noxafil®
Use
Prophylaxis of invasive Aspergillus and Candida infections in severely immunocompromized patients and treatments of oropharyngeal candidiasis.
Special Instructions
Transfer separated serum or plasma to a plastic transport tube. Do not use gel barrier tubes due to slow drug absorption by the gel, which can significantly decrease drug levels. Gel barrier tubes are thus not recommended as they may lead to clinically significant changes in drug levels.
Limitations
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by LabCorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. The FDA has declared that such clearance or approval is not necessary. Furthermore, no relationship between plasma concentrations and toxicity has been identified for Posaconazole, which may limit the interpretive guidance provided by the test results.
