Screening test for open neural tube defects, Down syndrome, and trisomy 18
Special Instructions
For this test, the patient must have submitted a previous specimen in the first trimester for the Serum Integrated 1 [017200] test. The gestational age for the second trimester test will be based on information from the first trimester specimen. The Maternal Prenatal Screening requisition 0900 can be used for providing patient information to the laboratory. Testing is offered from 15.0 to 21.9 weeks of gestation. Limitations
This is a screening test requiring two specimens collected in different trimesters. A positive screening result indicates that diagnostic testing may be advised to determine the presence of a neural tube defect or chromosomal abnormality.
