Sotalol, Serum or Plasma
Also known as: Betapace®, Sorine®, Sotylize®
Use
Therapeutic drug management
Special Instructions
Collect serum or plasma in a red-top tube or green-top (heparin) tube; avoid using gel-barrier tubes, which can lead to rejection. Serum or plasma must be separated from cells within two hours of venipuncture and submitted in a plastic transport tube. Ensure samples are stored properly depending on anticipated time until testing.
Limitations
Gel-barrier tubes are not recommended and can be a cause for rejection. Turnaround time for the test ranges from 7 to 14 days, which may vary with additional confirmatory or reflex tests. The test measures trough levels to ensure reproducibility, but variations in test scheduling and transport conditions may affect results.
