Wheat, Cultivated
Also known as: Cultivated Wheat
Use
The Wheat, Cultivated test quantitatively measures specific IgE antibodies to cultivated wheat using the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® methodology. The test results help in diagnosing allergy to wheat and assessing its severity, aiding clinicians in tailoring management plans for patients with suspected wheat allergy.
Special Instructions
Utilize a red-top tube or gel-barrier tube for specimen collection. Ensure accordance with the specified stability requirements for room temperature, refrigerated, and frozen conditions. Multiple freeze/thaw cycles do not significantly affect the specimen integrity.
Limitations
This test is specific to cultivated wheat and may not detect IgE antibodies to related grains. Cross-reactivity with other cereal grains or proteins cannot be ruled out completely. False negatives may occur, particularly if antigen levels are low or the patient has been avoiding wheat. Results should be interpreted in the context of the patient's clinical history and symptoms.
